Therefore, we apply three analytical frameworks: 1 a technical efficiency comparison over time, 2 a metafrontier approach among mergers and non-mergers and
Given \(X_{jit}\), the metafrontier is defined as the upper boundary of the support of the distribution of \(f_{t}^{j} \left( {X_{jit} } \right)\), i.e., \(f_{t}^{M} \left( {X_{jit} } \right) = \sup \left( {f_{t}^{j} \left( {X_{jit} } \right) \, \begin{array}{*{20}c} | \\ | \\ \end{array} \, G\left( {f_{t}^{j} \left( {X_{jit} } \right)} \right) < 1} \right)\) where \(G\left( {f_{t}^{j} \left( {X_{jit} } \right)} \right)\) is the distribution function of \(f_{t}^{j} …
A metafrontier slack-based efficiency measure is presented to measure environmental efficiency for various regions in China. The objective of the new approach is to investigate the change of environmental efficiency while incorporating group heterogeneities and all variable slack and environmental pollutants into environmental efficiency analysis. A metafrontier approach for measuring an environmentally sensitive productivity growth index Oh, Dong-hyun KTH, School of Architecture and the Built Environment (ABE), Centres, Centre of Excellence for Science and Innovation Studies, CESIS. The group innovative provinces have set a target for resource utilization of non-innovative provinces in order to catch-up with the corresponding groups, while the metafrontier innovative provinces provide targets for the technology levels of other provinces to improve their green development performance. This paper considers a stochastic metafrontier function to investigate the technical efficiencies of firms in different groups that may not have the same technology. A decomposition of output is presented involving the technology gap and technical efficiency ratios for firms in a group relative to the best practice in the industry.
The Metafrontier MalmquistLuenberger productivity index - (MML index) is used to shed on these issues which light embody the contribution of this paper to the literature. The rest of this study is organized as follows. In Section we introduce the 2, "Assessing the performance of German Bundesliga football players: a non-parametric metafrontier approach," Central European Journal of Operations Research, Springer;Slovak Society for Operations Research;Hungarian Operational Research Society;Czech Society for Operations Research;Österr. In this paper a semiparametric stochastic metafrontier approach is used to obtain insight into the performance of manufacturing firms in Europe. We differ from standard TFP studies at the firm level as we simul- taneously allow for inefficiency, noise and do not impose a functional form on the input–output relation. However, metafrontier estimation requires parameters obtained from initial stochastic frontier analysis. The metafrontier of the pooled sorghum plots’ managers is given by: l n Q z ∗ i = β z ∗ 0 + 6 ∑ j = 1 β z ∗ j l n X z ∗ i j + ε z i j , j = 1,2,3 , … , j l n Q i z ∗ = β 0 z ∗ + ∑ j = 1 6 β j z ∗ l n X i j z ∗ + ε i j z , j = 1,2,3 , … , j Metafrontier Productivity Indices: Questioning the Common Convexification Strategy Qianying Jin∗ Kristiaan Kerstens† Ignace Van de Woestyne‡ 15th May 2019 Abstract While the construction of metafrontiers based on the union of underlying group fron- A metafrontier production function for estimation of technical efficiencies and technology gaps for firms operating under different technologies.

(J Prod Anal 21:91–103, 2004 ), the metafrontier production function allows for calculating comparable TE measures, which can be decomposed into group specific TE measures and technology gap ratios. The metafrontier model 24 makes it possible to calculate comparable technical efficiencies for agricultural farms that operate under different technologies.
The stochastic metafrontier model also enables the estimation of technology gap ratios or
The concept of the metafrontier has been applied in the economic analysis spanning over different regions, sectors and levels of aggregation.

A decomposition of output is presented involving the technology gap and technical efficiency ratios for firms in a group relative to the best practice in the industry. Soil Conservation and Small Scale Food Production in Highland Ethiopia: A Stochastic Metafrontier Results indicate that male-managed sorghum plots had the highest metafrontier technical efficiencies (MTEs) (61%, 56% and 15%) and technology gap ratios (TGRs) (98%, 92% and 20%) for Lira, Serere and Kumi districts, respectively compared to female and jointly managed plots. 2017-09-01 · A metafrontier production function for estimation of technical efficiencies and technology gaps for firms operating under different technologies J. According to Battese and Rao , a metafrontier is defined as the boundary of a production possibility set of all input-output combinations, whereas group frontiers are conceptualized as the subboundaries of production possibility sets of groups of firms.
2018-02-02 The metafrontier model enables the calculation of comparable technical efficiencies for firms operating under different technologies. The model also enables the technology gaps to be estimated for firms under different technologies relative to the potential technology available to the industry as a whole. The metafrontier is assumed to employ the same technology as the individual stochastic frontiers in different groups. In this manner, the upper boundary now faced by all hospitals is the metafrontier, instead of the individual group frontiers. This paper presents a number of useful decompositions of the metafrontier MPI, which can provide useful insights into changes that are due to efficiency, quality improvements and/or technological changes in the healthcare sector.
